Solar Pool Heater Repair Throughout Miami-Dade

Florida Solar Pro services existing solar pool heating systems throughout Miami-Dade County, including systems originally installed by other contractors. These are the issues we diagnose and repair most often.

Leaking Rooftop Collectors

Water dripping from the collector array or running down roof plumbing is the most common Miami-Dade solar pool call. We pressurize the array, find whether the leak is in a tube, header, or connection, and repair or replace the failing section so the roof and system stay sound.

Damaged Collectors

Collectors cracked, split, or degraded by years of South Florida sun and storms may no longer hold pressure. We document the condition and give you an honest read on whether repair is realistic or replacement is the safer call. We do not promise every damaged collector can be repaired.

Collector Replacement

When a single collector has failed but the rest of the array is sound, a targeted replacement can often restore heating without replacing the whole system. We evaluate the surrounding collectors, plumbing, and headers before recommending replacement.

Plumbing Leaks

Leaks in the rooftop feed and return lines, at the roof penetration, or near the equipment pad waste heated water and can damage the roof. We trace the plumbing run, isolate the leak, and repair or replace the affected section.

Low Flow

Weak circulation through the collectors means the system cannot heat. Causes range from a dirty filter and aging pump to an air lock, restricted plumbing, or a valve that is not fully open. We trace the circulation path and restore proper flow before judging heating performance.

Air Bubbles When Solar Runs

Bubbles pouring into the pool when the solar system kicks on usually mean a suction-side air leak, a failing vacuum relief valve, or an air lock in the collector loop. We inspect the suction plumbing, valve operation, and relief valve to stop air from entering.

Pool Not Heating

A pool that will not warm up can be caused by a controller that never calls for heat, a solar valve stuck on pool return, reversed flow, low flow, too little collector area, or heavy shade. We verify sensor readings, valve actuation, flow direction, and circulation before recommending a fix.

Solar Valve Problems

The automatic solar valve decides when water is sent to the roof. A valve stuck on or off, or one that never switches, keeps the system from working correctly. We test valve operation and actuator response and replace components where appropriate.

Actuator Failure

The actuator motor that turns the solar valve can fail from age, moisture, or electrical issues. When the actuator stops working the system cannot engage automatically. We test the actuator and replace it when needed.

Controller Failure

A solar controller that will not engage, throws errors, or ignores sunlight keeps the system offline. We check power, wiring, and controller logic, and repair or replace faulty units.

Sensor Problems

Controllers rely on roof and water sensors to decide when to run. A failed or misread sensor can keep the system off or run it at the wrong time. We test sensor readings and replace faulty sensors.

Storm-Damaged Systems

Miami-Dade storms and high winds can tear collectors loose, crack headers, or damage roof plumbing. We perform a post-storm inspection, document the damage, and recommend repair or replacement of the affected components.

Aging Systems

Many Miami-Dade pools have solar pool heating systems that have run for years with no service. Aging collectors, brittle plumbing, and worn valves reduce performance over time. We inspect the full system and tell you what still works and what should be replaced.

Original Installer No Longer Available

A large share of our Miami-Dade work involves systems installed by contractors that have since closed or left the market. We inspect, diagnose, and service these systems even when the original installer cannot be reached.

Not every failure is repairable. After a real inspection we give you an honest recommendation based on the condition we find, and we will not guarantee a repair that the equipment cannot support.

Original Solar Pool Installer No Longer Available?

Many Miami-Dade pools have solar pool heating systems that were installed by companies that have since closed, left the market, or are otherwise unavailable. Florida Solar Pro can inspect and service existing Heliocol, SunStar, and other solar pool heating systems even when the original contractor can no longer be reached.

Florida Solar Pro does not automatically assume or inherit another contractor’s workmanship or installation warranty. We evaluate your system as it exists today and provide honest repair and service options.

Solar Pool Heating Removal & Reinstallation for Miami-Dade Reroofs

Solar Pool Heating + Gulfstream Heat Pump

Some Miami-Dade homeowners choose solar pool heating as the primary heat source and add a Gulfstream heat pump as supplemental heating. A hybrid setup can make sense when you want more consistent temperatures than solar alone can deliver.

Reasons a Miami-Dade homeowner may add a heat pump:

Not every pool needs both. We evaluate your pool, your usage, and your heating goals before recommending a hybrid system. Learn more on our pool heat pumps page, or see our full solar pool heating overview.

Can a leaking solar pool collector be repaired?

Often yes, depending on where the leak is. Tube, header, and connection leaks can frequently be repaired, while a badly degraded or split collector may need replacement. We inspect the collector under pressure before recommending repair or replacement, and we do not promise that every damaged collector can be repaired.

Can an individual Heliocol or SunStar collector be replaced?

Yes. In many systems a single damaged or leaking collector can be replaced without replacing the entire array, depending on the system design and the condition of the surrounding components.

Why is my solar pool heater leaking?

Common causes include cracked individual tubes, split headers, failed collector-to-collector connections, aged grommets or clamps, rooftop plumbing leaks, or storm damage. We pressurize the system and isolate the exact source before recommending a repair.

Why is air entering the pool when solar runs?

Bubbles in the return usually point to a suction-side air leak, a failing vacuum relief valve, or an air lock in the collector loop. We inspect the suction plumbing, valve operation, and relief valve to locate the source and stop air from entering the system.

Why isn’t my solar pool system heating properly?

Common causes include a controller that never calls for heat, a solar valve stuck on pool return, reversed flow, low flow from a clogged filter or weak pump, insufficient collector area, or heavy shade. We verify sensor readings, valve actuation, flow direction, and circulation before recommending a fix.

Can solar pool collectors be removed for a new roof?

Within our authorized Miami-Dade County service territory we provide authorized assistance with applicable Heliocol and SunStar manufacturer/factory warranty matters, including inspection, documentation, and authorized service where appropriate. Warranty approval is determined by the manufacturer and is not guaranteed.

No. Manufacturer warranty coverage is separate from any workmanship or installation warranty originally provided by another contractor. Florida Solar Pro does not automatically assume or inherit another contractor’s installer warranty.

Can solar pool heating be combined with a Gulfstream heat pump?

Yes. Some Miami-Dade homeowners use solar pool heating as the primary heat source and a Gulfstream heat pump as supplemental heating for faster recovery, more consistent temperature control, or seasonal heating needs. Not every pool needs both. See our pool heat pumps page for details.
