Solar System Not Producing?

Reduced or lost PV production can come from several different places in a solar system, and the symptom you see in the monitoring app is not always the actual cause. Before any equipment is replaced, the system should be diagnosed so the right component is addressed the first time.

Reduced or lost PV production may involve an inverter fault or shutdown, a microinverter fault on one or more modules, an optimizer-level production problem, a communication failure between equipment and the monitoring platform, a monitoring problem that hides data the system is still generating, a wiring or connection condition, a roof-level equipment issue, a complete system shutdown triggered by a safety or grid condition, a utility or grid-related condition, or failed or unavailable equipment that requires replacement.

The actual cause should be diagnosed before equipment is replaced. We do not guarantee that every system can be restored — some faults involve discontinued equipment, unavailable parts, or conditions that make repair impractical, and in those cases we explain the realistic options honestly.

Central Inverters, Microinverters & Optimizers

Residential PV systems use different inverter architectures, and each one fails differently. Understanding which architecture your system uses is the first step in diagnosing a production problem correctly.

Solar Inverter Brands We Service

Florida Solar Pro evaluates residential PV inverter, microinverter, optimizer, and monitoring equipment from the major manufacturers used across Florida.

Enphase
SolarEdge
SMA
Fronius
APsystems

Service availability depends on equipment model, system condition, manufacturer support, parts availability, roof access, system compatibility, and applicable manufacturer procedures. Legacy string-inverter support is evaluated case by case. We do not claim that every model or discontinued product can be repaired.

Enphase Microinverter & Gateway Diagnostics

Enphase systems put a small microinverter under each module and report production panel by panel through an Envoy gateway. That architecture is powerful, but it also means a single failed microinverter, a dropped gateway, or a communication gap can hide production loss across one module or the whole array. Common Enphase issues we investigate include one or more modules stopping reporting, microinverter alerts, the Envoy gateway losing its connection, monitoring visibility stopping, production differences between modules, equipment documentation needs, and applicable manufacturer procedures.

We read the Envoy and monitoring platform to identify which microinverters are reporting, which are not, and whether the problem is the unit, the wiring, the communication path, or the gateway itself. One module-level fault does not automatically mean the entire system has failed.

We do not guarantee manufacturer warranty approval or free replacement equipment. Warranty eligibility and approval are determined by Enphase under its applicable terms.

SolarEdge Inverter & Optimizer Troubleshooting

SolarEdge systems pair a central string inverter with power optimizers mounted behind each module. When the inverter throws a fault, an optimizer drops, or a string loses output, production can fall sharply even though most of the array is still healthy — and the cause is not always obvious from the monitoring dashboard alone. SolarEdge problems we troubleshoot include inverter fault codes or shutdowns, optimizer-level production problems, string output drops, communication failures, module-level monitoring flags, and overall production loss without an obvious single cause.

Troubleshooting a SolarEdge system usually involves reviewing both the central inverter and the roof-level optimizer performance before recommending repair, replacement, or monitoring restoration.

SMA, Fronius & Legacy String-Inverter Support

Florida Solar Pro may evaluate supported SMA, Fronius, and other legacy string-inverter systems. These central inverters have been installed across Florida for many years, and they fail in ways that are different from module-level equipment. We may evaluate supported systems for inverter faults, production loss, display errors, communication problems, shutdown conditions, replacement feasibility, and system modernization. Legacy equipment is handled case by case based on the specific model, system condition, parts availability, manufacturer support, and replacement compatibility.

Monitoring Problem or Production Problem?

Missing monitoring data does not always mean the PV system stopped producing. A monitoring portal can stop updating while the panels keep generating, and jumping straight to a replacement based on a blank app is how homeowners pay for hardware that was never the issue. Possible monitoring problems may involve a gateway internet connection issue, an inverter communication problem, an account access or platform login issue, equipment reporting, a configuration issue at the home network, or discontinued installer platform access.

Likewise, a system may display monitoring data while still having one or more equipment faults. A healthy-looking app is not a substitute for actually checking the equipment. Florida Solar Pro evaluates both actual system operation and monitoring visibility.

Repair the Inverter or Replace It?

A fault code on an inverter does not automatically mean the unit has to be replaced. The right recommendation depends on what the diagnostic actually finds, and several factors shape whether repair, a manufacturer procedure, or replacement makes the most sense: fault condition, inverter model, equipment age and condition, parts availability, manufacturer support, replacement compatibility, string or array configuration, roof-level equipment, warranty eligibility, and cost and practicality.

Possible paths may include a communication correction, a configuration correction, an applicable manufacturer procedure, selected component replacement, inverter replacement, or system modernization. We do not automatically recommend replacement. When a communication repair or configuration correction can clear the fault, that is the first option we lay out.

What If the Original Inverter Is Discontinued?

When a true inverter failure is confirmed and the original model is no longer available, replacement is often still possible — but it is rarely a simple one-for-one swap. The new inverter has to work with the rest of the existing system, and that review can touch PV module specifications, array voltage, string configuration, optimizers, rapid-shutdown equipment, monitoring, disconnects, utility requirements, and permitting or current-code requirements where applicable. We do not promise compatibility without evaluating the system first.

Original Installer No Longer Available?

Florida Solar Pro can evaluate appropriate existing PV systems regardless of who originally installed them. You do not need to have bought the system from us to request inverter or monitoring service. Customers may request inverter diagnostics, microinverter diagnostics, optimizer troubleshooting, monitoring restoration, system inspection, equipment replacement evaluation, PV removal and reinstallation, or a battery and modernization evaluation.

Florida Solar Pro does not automatically assume or inherit another contractor’s workmanship, installation, labor, production, or performance warranty. See Our Solar Rescue Program.

Manufacturer Warranty Assistance

Florida Solar Pro may assist with applicable manufacturer procedures for supported equipment. We can help move an eligible claim forward by organizing the information the manufacturer needs: documenting equipment models and serial numbers, recording reported faults, gathering system information, assisting with eligible manufacturer procedures, and performing authorized service where appropriate.

Warranty eligibility, approval, replacement equipment, labor coverage, shipping, and processing time are determined by the manufacturer under its applicable terms. We do not guarantee approval or coverage.
